Ince: Fowler was a joy to watch

Posted on: Thu 25 Sep 2008

MANAGER Paul Ince was full of praise for striker Robbie Fowler after last night's Carling Cup victory over Everton.

Fowler, making his debut after signing a short-term deal with the Ewood Park club, laid on the vital pass that saw Martin Olsson score the only goal of the game and was a lively performer on his first ninety minute match for almost a year, much to the delight of Ince.

"Robbie was outstanding, for someone who hasn't played a competitive game since October he was outstanding," said the Rovers boss.

"He never gave the ball away, he maybe should have capped his performance with a goal but apart from that for someone who has had so few minutes on the pitch he was different class.

"He showed his experience and was a joy to watch."
