ROVERS' latest acquisition Robbie Fowler is delighted to be back in the Premier League.

The former England frontman, who rejected a contract extension at Championship side Cardiff in the summer, has made himself available for selection after proving his fitness during an extended trial at the club.

"It has been a while in coming," said the 33-year-old. "I've been here for two months now, so the fact that I've come here and proved my fitness, although not in games, shows that I can now be involved in games at a weekend and that is what I'm aiming for.

"It has been a long process, but hopefully I'm all done. I turned down a contract at Cardiff for the fact that I wanted to get back in the Premier League.

"The manager asked if I would be interested to come here on trial and see how it goes. Thankfully I've proved that and he has given me a three-month pay-as-you-play contract.

"I wanted to get back in the Premier League and the fact that I've taken a 'pay as you play' deal proves that. I feel good, my fitness is good and I've proved that.

"I really enjoyed my time at Cardiff, but the Premier League came calling. This is the place where everyone wants to be and I'm no different. It was a surprise call, but one that I was grateful of."
