MIDFIELDER David Dunn believes the new role given to him by boss Paul Ince will help him get amongst the goals more often this season.

Dunn only netted once for Rovers during the 2007/08 season, but after firing the opening goal of the 2008/09 campaign in the 3-2 win over Everton on Saturday, the 28-year-old is targetting double figures.

"Maybe this year I can bomb on a little bit and get a few more goals," said Dunn. "I feel good in that last third then I feel like I can hurt teams.

"I always target ten, and I feel if I'm playing regularly and I'm fit and I'm playing in that position that I can hurt teams, then I'm sure I can."

Boss Paul Ince was delighted with the performance of Dunn from midfield on Saturday:

"I thought Dunny was exceptional, as was Aaron to be fair, they both did ever so well," said Ince.

"Last year Sparky probably played him in a different role, a bit more defensive, but Dunny wants to go forward, he wants to make things happen.

"He creates space for himself and he can create a lot of chances for us.

"He showed that on Saturday on numerous occasions and I think he is excelling in his role, I think he enjoys it."
