BOBBY Mimms has today joined Blackburn Rovers as the new goalkeeping coach.

No stranger to Ewood Park and Brockhall, Mimms made over 150 appearances for the club during a six-year spell from December 1990 to June 1996.

After a playing career spanning two decades and thirteen clubs, Mimms joined the coaching staff at Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2001 as their goalkeeping coach, and was still there at Molineux on Saturday when his new employers visited in a pre-season friendly.

"It is with mixed emotions that I am leaving Molineux after seven enjoyable years with Wolverhampton Wanderers," Mimms told www.wolves.co.uk. "But the opportunity to return to Blackburn Rovers, one of my former clubs was too great to resist.

"I had some great times there and still have friends in the area and there are also people at the club that I know - both newly appointed, and those who have been there since my playing days with them. That will hopefully make the move a smooth one."
