BLACKBURN Rovers can confirm the signing of Chilean international Carlos Villanueva from Audax Italiano.
The 22 year-old midfielder has signed on an initial one-year loan but Rovers having the option of turning the loan move into a permanent deal at a pre-agreed fee.
The player has also agreed terms with Rovers to extend his contract for a further three years if the option is exercised.
Last season's Chilean player of the year and one of South America's brightest talents, attacking midfielder Villanueva has 12 caps to his name, grabbing one goal from his dozen games for Chile to date, whilst he has averaged almost goal every other game for his club side.
"It is and exciting signing, everyone is talking about him," said Rovers boss Paul Ince. "He's a talented kid, he's a skilful player, I'm sure he'll excite the fans.
"Getting him here excites me and shows the kind of football I'm looking to play at Blackburn.
"We'll see how it goes, it is always hard when you come to a new country, I went to Italy and it took me a few months to settle down, so I don't want too much expectation on the lad, it will take him time to settle in, but we believe we have a decent player."
