Archie joins the ranks

Posted on: Mon 07 Jul 2008

AMONG with the new faces at Brockhall this morning was Rovers' new first team coach Archie Knox.

Knox, who has known manager Paul Ince for 20 years, and twice worked as Sir Alex Ferguson's assistant at both Aberdeen and Manchester United, brings a wealth of experience to the post and is obviously relishing the opportunity.

"It is another great opportunity to work not only in the Premier League but for a manager I have known for many years.

"Today is a meet everyone sort of day and we are well aware of the high quality of player in the Rovers squad.

"Players come back to pre-season much fitter than they used to and the ones I have seen so far look like they could play a game straight away."

Knox has coached extensively in Scotland, also been the assistant manager of the national side, including a spell as the boss of their under 21 side. Most recently he was assistant manager at Bolton Wanderers.
