One more huge game

Posted on: Tue 29 Jun 2010

MARK Hughes has been delighted with his Blackburn Rovers side this season no matter whatever happens in Sunday's match against Birmingham City.

Rovers go into the final match of the 2007/08 campaign with a chance of securing a top-six position and with it a place in Europe next season.

But Hughes knows that with Birmingham City fighting for their lives at the wrong end of the table, the result certainly won't be a foregone conclusion.

"We've got one game to go, three points are still up for grabs, and who knows what will happen on the last day of the season," said Hughes. "There are always twists and turns and who knows, we may pinch a place in Europe at the end of it.

"But irrespective of what happens on Sunday, we have still had an outstanding season, we have never been out of the top ten all year which is unbelievable really. We've kept going, we've had little blips now and again, but we've regrouped and come again and we face one more game with something still riding on it.

"So I think that shows us great credit.

"It is a huge game for both teams now and I'm sure there'll be a lot of interest paid, once again we've crept up the table outside the radar and we are still involved and we'll play a big part in the future of not only ourselves but another club as well."

Blues BarRovers' allocation for Sunday's game at St. Andrews have now all been sold, but fans can see the game live at Blues Bar at Ewood Park. Happy hour with £2 a pint for Carlsberg and Thwaites starts at 12 noon and runs throughout the day. Sandwiches will also be available to purchase from the bar, or why not make a day of it and have our Rovers Roastie - a Sunday roast with all the trimmings - for just £6.75.
