SKIPPER Ryan Nelsen was left to reflect on a "bitterly disappointing" ending to Saturday's match against Manchester United.
Leading 1-0 courtesy of Roque Santa Cruz's first half strike, Rovers had to defend stoutly in the last twenty minutes, but just as it looked like the home side would cling on for an important three points, United showed why they are league leaders with a late Tevez leveller to break Rovers' hearts.
"I thought everybody was terrific, the guys in front of us worked so hard that it made the job at the back a lot easier," said the Rovers captain. "For 88 minutes it was a really good performance.
"But to be fair Man Utd were putting us under some pressure and Brad made a couple of great saves, but to score how they scored, a soft goal when you work so hard, is hard to take.
"it is disappointing that we didn't organise ourselves quick enough, it is frustrating, we had kept them pretty quiet, I don't think Ronaldo, Rooney and Tevez had quite the impact that they usually have.
"But in fair reflection a 1-1 draw is pretty even, but when you are in that position to see the game out it is bitterly disappointing."
The end of the current campaign has come at the wrong time for Nelsen, back in the starting eleven after two months out with his troublesome tendon injury, the Kiwi is starting to show signs of getting back to his best, just as the season is coming to be close.
"I've love the season to keep going, it is so annoying that there are only three games left, but pre-season will come around quickly."
