MARK Hughes yet again hailed a performance from Roque Santa Cruz.

But it wasn't just for the former Bayern Munich star grabbing his 20th goal in his debut campaign in the Premier League, but also his tireless work in unfamiliar surroundings.

Saturday's game against Manchester United saw Rovers make a tactical change of Roque Santa Cruz operating more as a right winger, and whilst certainly came as a surprise, it worked as Evra never had a moments peace at left back.

"It is a credit to him, it isn't just about his goals even though he scored again," said boss Hughes.

"I just felt given his work ethic that he could do that role for us. There is always a fear that defensively he may well get caught out but he never was, he understood what was asked of him before the game and it was a really fantastic performance from him and everybody else."
