Duo are doubts for Sunday
STRIKER Jason Roberts is a concern for manager Mark Hughes ahead of the visit to Anfield on Sunday.
The Grenadan international has started up front alongside Roque Santa Cruz for the last four Barclays Premier League matches, but a slight groin strain could stop him featuring against Liverpool in the 1.30pm Sunday kick-off.
Another player who is a doubt for the match against Rafa Benitez's side is midfielder David Dunn. A sore knee prevented him featuring against Tottenham last time out, and that doesn't appear to have improved.
"Jason Roberts is a little bit sore in the groin," confirmed manager Mark Hughes. "David Dunn's knee and achilles is a bit sore, but we'll have to wait on them."
That could mean a return to the starting eleven for Benni McCarthy. The South African has found the back of the net in two of Rovers' last three games against the Reds and would relish the chance to add to his eleven goals scored this season.
If Dunn doesn't recover in time then Johann Vogel should retain his place in the centre of midfield after his solid debut last weekend.
Steven Reid is fit for the Anfield match after limping out of last week's Ewood clash against Spurs with cramp in the calf.
Aside from Dunn and Roberts, Hughes has a large squad to select from and is expected to choose from: Friedel, Ooijer, Nelsen, Samba, Warnock, Bentley, Vogel, Reid, Pedersen, Roberts, Santa Cruz, Brown, Tugay, Emerton, McCarthy, Khizanishvili, Mokoena, Derbyshire, Olsson, Nolan.
Rovers supporters have until 2.00pm on Saturday to purchase their tickets for Sunday's 1.30pm kick-off. Tickets are priced £36 for Adults, £27 for Seniors and £18 for Juniors. Call the ticket office on 0871 222 1444 for further information.
