Once again, Blackburn Rovers FC has been supporting Blackburn with Darwen Library & Information Services to deliver fun filled, action packed activity sessions in local libraries.
This annual programme, co-ordinated nationally by the National Literacy Trust and the Football Foundation, allows up to 10 lucky children in each group to put their football knowledge to the test by competing in games and activities to win prizes.
They also borrow and read books chosen especially for them by Premiership footballers, meet football journalist and author Tom Palmer, and get free tickets to watch a football match at Ewood Park, as well as behind the scenes access to parts of the stadium that the public don't normally get to see.
Goalkeeper Brad Friedel is Rovers' Reading Champion and his book recommendation is 'The Gruffalo' by Julia Donaldson.
2008 is a National Year of Reading and Premier League Reading Stars is only one of a number of activities and events that all the family can get involved with through Blackburn with Darwen Library & Information Services. For details of some of their other schemes, please drop in to your local library, contact Andrew Orr (01254) 587941 or have a look at their website www.blackburn.gov.uk.
Remember, it's never too late to join a library and it's absolutely free.
