THE curtain is set to rise on a specially-commissioned play - with Rovers in the leading role.

A brand new theatre production, entitled "Shearer or Me", will embrace the glorious year when the club lifted the Premier League title.

Not only is it to be staged in the shadow of Ewood Park - at the neighbouring Thwaites Theatre - the organisers are also looking for all Rovers fans to take part.

Eric Nolan, who is to directing the play on behalf of the Blackburn Drama Club, is appealing for followers to come forward and loan any memorabilia from the 1994-95 campaign.

"Running alongside the performance, we are holding an exhibition to commemorate the championship-winning campaign and anyone with anything to show is more than welcome to get in touch."

Shearer or me flier

Written by Peter Read, "Shearer or Me" tells the story of a Rovers fanatic whose devotion to the cause threatens his relationships.

"It is a must for all fans," added Eric. "Rovers are working closely with us and we all want this to be a great spectacle."

The play will run from Tuesday May 27th to Saturday May 31st. Tickets are available from the Thwaites Theatre box office on 680137 and anyone wishing to donate any memorabilia items should contact Eric on 247510 or email jericnolan@aol.com.

On each evening of the show, Blues Bar at Ewood Park are also offering a special Theatre Dinner Package of a two-course meal plus a ticket to the play for just £20.
