MARK Hughes was pleased with the point after Rovers extended their unbeaten run in the Premier League to seven games after a goalless draw with Everton at Ewood Park on Saturday.
Chances for either side were few and far between in the first half, but the game certainly livened up in the second half with both sides having opportunities to claim all three points, but a draw was the result in the end.
"I thought it was a decent Premier League game," said Hughes on Radio Rovers after the game. "It was nip and tuck with two sides striving for the same prize and I think that showed.
"Certainly in the second half I think we were a lot better, in the first half it was a little bit stop-start, there wasn't a great deal of momentum, but in the second half we drove the game and I thought at some point that something would happen for us and that we'd get the goal.
"I think if we'd have scored then I think we would have won the game but it wasn't to be, but it was a decent performance I felt, certainly in the second half."
Hughes was pleased with the impact that substitutes Tugay and Benni McCarthy made on the game after their second half introductions. Neither player has been involved in recent weeks, but they made their mark to help Rovers gain more forward momentum in the final third.
"I thought we needed to get a little bit more composure and getting Tugay on allowed Steven Reid to be released a little bit more in forward areas, and I thought he did that well. I thought Steven was excellent today, he is looking stronger and stronger every game he plays.
"Benni just gave us that little bit of guile, he was able to retain possession in good areas for us and we could get people up to support, so I thought the guys that came on had an impact which they have to do when they come on.
"We've got to keep on picking up points, Everton are a decent side and away from home they are a difficult side to come up against."
