New deal for defender

Posted on: Wed 23 Jan 2008

ROVERS defender Zurab Khizanishvili has signed a new deal with the Ewood Park club.

The Georgian international has penned a new deal that sees him contracted to Rovers until the summer of 2011.

Khizanishvili initially arrived on a season-long loan from Scottish club Glasgow Rangers in the summer of 2005, but manager Mark Hughes quickly liked what he saw and made the deal permanent with Zura signing a three-year deal.

Despite not featuring as often as he would have liked in the last 12 months, the Georgian captain had no hesitation in putting pen to paper on a new three-year deal today.

Rovers World will bring you an exclusive interview with the likeable defender later this afternoon.
