Boost for Mokoena

Posted on: Thu 01 Nov 2007

BLACKBURN Rovers have been boosted by the news that Aaron Mokoena could well be fit for Saturday's Ewood Park match against Liverpool.

It looked bleak for the South African captain when he was stretchered from the field of play during the first half of last night's 2-1 Carling Cup victory over Portsmouth at Fratton Park, with early suggestions that he had possibly broken his leg, but it appears that those fears were thankfully unfounded.

"He's okay thankfully," revealed manager Mark Hughes this afternoon. "He obviously got a bang on his leg, he's has a plate in it from a previous injury and as he went back onto the field of play he felt a pain which probably frightened him more than anything.

"So obviously he came off, but I've seen him this morning and he's walking around. He's a little bit sore but we'll see how he is tomorrow. BUt he's obviously not as bad as we initially thought.

"He feels a lot better in himself and hopefully he'll settle down and he may well be an option for us."

Tickets for the Saturday's 5.15pm match are on sale to Rovers fans with a database history of purchasing tickets for previous Rovers matches. Prices are from just £25 for Adults and £15 for Seniors, Club 16-21 Members and Juniors. Call the ticket office on 0871 222 1444 for further details.
