Rovers Ladies have been given one final pre-season boost with the capture of Manchester City captain Charlotte Farrell.

Manager Adam Lakeland said: "Charlotte is equally comfortable at either right-back or centre half and is at a good age.

"I was quite happy with the squad that I had, but I thought that I could just do with getting one more body in if possible, especially in the right-back area.

"Charlotte will bring an awful lot of quality to us, which we have showed signs of being a bit short of in pre-season.

"She is a very committed player, strong in the tackle and not one to be intimidated if things get a bit heated.

"She also scored 10 goals for Manchester City last year from set-plays and the more areas on the pitch we can get goals from, the closer we will get to the top end of the table rather than the bottom.

"Other clubs were after her as well, so I'm really glad that we've managed to get her in and I hope that the quality she brings will really help us this season."
