Premier Reserve League
Rovers Ladies Reserves 3-0 Liverpool
Sophie Lynch scored twice as Rovers Ladies Reserves returned to winning ways with a 3-0 victory at home to third place Liverpool.
Rovers started strongly, but failed to take any of the early chances that they created.
However, the deadlock was finally broken on the half-four mark, when an initial shot was saved and Hannah Forster popped up to tap home the rebound.
Scott Rogers' side continued to dominate and they doubled their advantage 10 minutes later when Lynch supplied a fine finish to a well-worked move.
Liverpool responded well after the break, putting Rovers under some sustained pressure from free-kicks and balls into the box, and only a superb save from keeper Derri Jump prevented them from finding the net.
Rovers eventually regained a foothold in the game and secured the points 10 minutes from time. Attacking on the break, Lynch drove at the defence, before coolly lifting the ball over the Liverpool keeper.
Rogers said: "We completely controlled the first half and could have gone in more than 2-0 up.
"However, I have to give Liverpool a lot of credit for taking the game to us in the second half. They seemed to catch us off guard and we sat back and gave them too much time.
"Overall, we deserved to win the game because of the performance of the team as a whole. It's another good result and we have bounced back from last week's defeat, which was the main thing."
