England call for Krystal
ROVERS Ladies 'keeper Krystal Parker's fairytale first season of top-flight football continues to go from strength to strength.
The 17-year-old stopper, who only joined the club from the lower leagues in the summer, has been an ever-present for Adam Lakeland's side since first-choice keeper Danielle Hill suffered a cruciate knee injury back in August.
And following a string of impressive performances for the first team, she was named in England's provisional 30-player squad for the Under-20 Women's World Cup, which kicks off in Chile this coming week, and was invited to spend a week with the squad at a training camp in Spain.
Sadly, Krystal was only listed as a standby when the final 21-player squad was announced last month, but the brief disappointment has now long been forgotten after Kystral was asked to join up with the England Under-23 squad for a training camp at Bisham Abbey earlier this week.
Ladies boss Adam said: "We signed Danielle with the intention of her being our number one, as we thought that Krystal would benefit from working with a keeper of her calibre.
"Krystal was always seen as one for the future, but she has been thrown in at the deep end and acquitted herself really, really well.
"She has had one or two shaky moments, which you would expect from a young kid at this level, but by and large she has been quality.
"She thoroughly deserves international recognition and I'm very proud she's been selected for these England squads."
