Watford 3-2 Rovers

NEW signing Nicola Hobbs had a debut to forget, as the Rovers goalkeeper conceded a controversial late penalty to hand the three points to newly-promoted Watford.

Natalie Brewer opened the scoring for Adam Lakeland's side on 14 minutes, but the Hornets hit back through Helen Lander just 60 seconds later.

Levi Penny scored her first of the campaign to restore Rovers' lead on the stroke of half-time, but again Watford equalised through Ellen Maggs.

And just 12 minutes from time, Hobbs - who had only just got back to her feet following a bang to the head - was adjudged to have fouled a Watford attacker in an attempt to claim a cross and Ashlee Hincks made no mistake from the spot.

ROVERS: Hobbs, Carroll (Dixon 46), Brewer, Eadie, Harding, Burke, Shepherd, Campbell, Preston, Penny (Walsh 67), Anderton.

Subs not used: Jones, Forster, Fleck.
