KATIE Anderton made a five-star start to the new Women's Premier League season as Rovers Ladies hit Cardiff City for six to move top of the National Division table.
Anderton, who was overlooked for the England squad that flew to China on Sunday ahead of next month's World Cup, bagged the first five goals in Rovers' devastating opening day display at Clitheroe's Shawbridge stadium.
Rovers' record goalscorer netted a first-half hat-trick, before adding another two strikes in the first 19 minutes of the second half. New signing Natalie Preston completed the rout with a debut goal on 65 minutes.
