KEEPER Kay Hawke scooped the top honour at the first annual Blackburn Rovers Girls & Ladies Presentation Evening.

Kay, who will join up with the England squad next week ahead of this summer's World Cup, was named Players' Player of the Year as the curtain came down on another hugely successful season for the ladies set-up.

Star defender Natalie Brewer was named Club Player of the Year by manager Adam Lakeland, whilst England Under-19 international Jayne Eadie picked up the Young Players' Player award.

Captain Mel Cook, who joined Rovers from Leeds just last season, was named Best Newcomer, whilst star striker Katie Anderton, who bagged an incredible 36 goals in all competitions, was presented with the Goal of the Season trophy for her stunning strike against Everton.

In the Reserves, departing manager Peter Fletcher announced Grace Bowman as the Players' Player, Karen Hanson as the Young Players' Player and Hannah Pailing as the team's Most Improved Player.

Katie Nuttall walked away with the Manager's Player award, Katie Chattell was presented with the Special Achievement/Player Contribution award, whilst striker Sammy Fleck bagged the Goal of the Season trophy.

At Under-16 level, Katie Anderton presented Caitlan Walsh with the Players' Player award and Charlotte Heyes as Gemma Donnelly's choice for Manager's Player.

Captain Jo Norris picked up the Special Achievement/Contribution Award, Emma Rankin was named Most Improved Player, whilst Danielle Wilcock bagged the Goal of the Season award for her 35-yard free-kick against Everton in the cup semi-final.

And to conclude the proceedings, the night's big winner Kay Hawke did the honours for the Under-14s. Amy Lucas was named Players' Player, Mel Hetherington was named Manager's Player, Beth Cattle was named Most Improved Player, Nic Worthington scooped the Goal of the Season award for her stunning free-kick against Manchester United in the League Cup final, whilst Natalie Cassidy was presented with the Special Achievement/Contribution Award after being selected to represent England for the hearing impaired squad at junior level.

On a memorable evening in Blues Bar at Ewood Park, the 45-minute presentation ceremony was followed by a buffet, disco and karaoke.
