Rovers 1-1 Fulham

ROVERS Ladies held on to fourth spot in the National Division table with a 1-1 draw at home to relegated Fulham.

Rovers started well and opened the scoring with less than three minutes on the clock. Just seconds after sending a free header inches wide of the post, Caz Dixon scored her second goal in as many games with a looping right-foot volley from 25 yards out.

But Fulham, who drew 1-1 with Charlton three days earlier, earned their second surprise point in the space of a week courtesy of Charmaine Benham's equaliser on 33 minutes. After breaking through on goal, the Fulham striker clipped the ball over the onrushing Sian Payne and into the back of the net.

Katie Anderton almost restored Rovers lead with a fine solo run and shot shortly after, on an afternoon of few clear cut chances for either side.

ROVERS: Payne, Carroll, Cook (Brewer 46), Eadie, Eastwood, Bell, Cambell, Shepherd, Forster (Barnes 66), Anderton (McCrea 46), Dixon.
