Premier Reserve League
Rovers Ladies Reserves 1-0 Everton

Rovers Ladies Reserves made it three wins on the spin with an impressive 1-0 victory over Everton.

Hayley Langford scored the only goal of the game midway through the second half to keep Scott Rogers' (pictured) side firmly in touch with the teams at the top of the Premier Reserve League Mid/North Division One.

Everton enjoyed the bulk of the possession in the first half, but it was Rovers who could have been ahead by the break, with Nicole Hatcliffe and Hannah Forster both going close, and Becky Whittingham seeing an effort cleared off the line.

Rovers created more chances after the interval and opened the scoring on the hour mark when a corner twice struck the bar, before Langford slammed home for her first of the season.

The lively Emma McDougall was introduced for the final 20 minutes and she almost doubled Rovers' lead, only to be denied in a one-on-one.

The hosts also had a clear penalty appeal turned down 10 minutes from time, but with Everton limited to just two shots at goal all second half, Rovers saw the game out comfortably to secure the points.

Rogers said: "This was a massive win for us, because Everton are a fantastic team. We worked incredibly hard when we didn't have the ball and I thought the girls stuck to the game plan perfectly.

"Sometimes you have to adapt to different situations and that was the case on Sunday. Although this was a great win, we can't get too carried away, as we have another massive game next week, but I am confident we will keep this good run of form going."

ROVERS: Payne, Munro, Chattell, Sullivan, Langford, Flynn, Forster, Paling, Foster, Hatcliffe, Whittingham (sub McDougall 71 mins).
