Scott proud of 'strong season'

Posted on: Thu 17 May 2012

Rovers Ladies manager Scott Rogers insists there are plenty of positives to take from the 2011-12 season.

Rovers finished fourth in the Northern Division - missing out on second spot following a 4-1 defeat to Sheffield FC on the final day - but reached the latter stages of the three cup competitions, lifting the Lancashire Cup thanks to a 3-1 win over Blackpool Wren Rovers.

"The defeat to Sheffield was a bad way to finish, but on reflection we have had a strong season," said Scott.

"We reached the quarter-final of the FA Cup and semi-final of the Premier League Cup for the first time in our history.

"I feel that our league form needed to be more consistent this year, but we have come such a long way and proved we have very talented young players.

"I need to add some more experience to the group to help them for next season, but I'm extremely proud of what we have achieved this year, considering our unsettled start to the season and loss of experienced players.

"We had to regroup and learn fast and I think we have done that. I am sure that with a good pre-season, we can come back even stronger next year."
