Bowyer expects tough battle

Posted on: Wed 17 Mar 2010

UNDER 18s coach Gary Bowyer is under no illusions of the task that lies ahead as Rovers take on Chelsea in the FA Youth Cup semi-final first leg at Ewood Park this Wednesday evening.

Rovers have reached the last four of the competition courtesy of wins over Blackpool, Leyton Orient, Manchester United and Everton. Whilst Chelsea have beaten Charlton Athletic, Nottingham Forest, Portsmouth and Watford on their way to the semi-finals.

But having twice seen Chelsea in action in addition to the Academy league game between the two sides in which Rovers won 1-0 at the beginning of the season, Bowyer knows that a tough tie lies ahead.

"They are a fantastic team," said the under 18s coach. "I went to Watford to watch them and I've seen them in an earlier round against Nottingham Forest.

"They've recruited some of the best players in the world, so it will be a good tie and something that we should be looking forward to."

Season Ticket Holders can see the game this Wednesday evening for free on production of their Season Ticket Cards. General admission prices on the night are £3 Adults, £1 Concessions.

The Jack Walker lower tier will be open for this game, kick-off is at 7.00pm.
