Rovers' under 18s picked up a useful point on their travels at the weekend against Liverpool.
In a match where both sides created little in the way of chances, it took a piece of individual brilliance to see the deadlock broken with fifteen minutes remaining.
The goal came from Micah Evans who ran from inside his own half, past four Liverpool defenders to fire low into the opposite corner of the goal.
It was a strike worthy of winning any game, but unfortunately that script wasn't followed as Rovers conceded right from the restart.
A free-kick conceded by Grant Hanley then saw the Rovers defence fail to pick up a runner that saw Liverpool level.
The point means Rovers go into the festive break topping their Academy group table.
"I thought in the first half we showed signs of being tired from Wednesday night," said under 18s coach Gary Bowyer.
"At half-time we asked the players to increase the tempo and to be fair to them they went and had a right good go, scoring a fantastic individual goal from Micah.
"But we then really let ourselves down by conceding straight afterwards with Grant Hanley giving a silly foul away. We then switched off and failed to pick up the runner from the free-kick.
"Overall we have had a good first half to the season, credit to the players, as the majority of them who played last season have shown a good sign of maturity and we go into the break now hoping that a few more will push on into the reserves."
