Rovers under 18s got back to winning ways at the weekend with a 1-0 victory away at Huddersfield Town.
Gearoid Morrissey scored the only goal of the game five minutes into the second half, in a hard fought encounter that saw the home side reduced to ten men in the final minute.
On a difficult surface it was Rovers who started the stronger of the two sides, inside the first ten minutes Michael Potts twice went close but saw his efforts blocked by last ditch defending by Huddersfield.
As Rovers goalkeeper Josh Swann watched on, all of the play centred around the opposing goal, a smart move involving Tom Hitchcock saw Josh Morris denied by a fine save.
Then the two combined again, when from a Morris corner kick, Hitchcock saw his header saved.
Goalless at the break Rovers continued to make most of the running into the second half, Jordan Bowen came close to breaking the deadlock two minutes after the restart, but again fine goalkeeping thwarted Rovers.
But there was nothing the Town 'keeper could do on fifty minutes when Rovers finally grabbed what proved to be the only goal of the game.
From the left Josh Morris crossed to the back post where Callum O'Connor had advanced to head back into the area, Tom Hitchcock teed up Gearoid Morrissey to side foot home in fine style. It was the Irish midfielder's third goal of the season.
Michael Potts was twice denied as Rovers looked to add to their lead, first firing just wide after some neat approach play, the second saved by the Huddersfield stopper.
Jordan Bowen was denied once again, then on 83 minutes he turned provider when his cross from the right found Josh Morris coming in at the back post, but he placed his header over the bar.
Any chance of Huddersfield grabbing a late leveller were extinguished when they were reduced to ten men in the final moments for two yellow cards issued in quick succession.
"We were strong for periods and we had to match their competitiveness as it was a battle at times," said under 18s coach Gary Bowyer. "But we created chances and eventually took one with a great bit of quality from Morrissey."
