ROVERS' under 18s tasted defeat for the second time in seven days as they went down 3-1 away at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.

Gary Bowyer's side got off to the worst possible start when they conceded after just three minutes. A corner to the edge of the area was headed goalwards and bounced past the unsighted Bussmann in the Rovers goal.

Seven minutes later and the lead was doubled as a long ball upfield was allowed to bounce and the Wolves centre forward rounded the Rovers goalkeeper to fire home.

Despite their shocking start Rovers rallied creating a number of chances. Grant Hanley headed over from a corner, whilst Michael Potts saw a clever lob go just over the bar.

Defender Hanley went even closer just before the break when his shot from inside the area was cleared off the line. But two minutes after the restart the centre-back was at fault as a deflected effort trickled in to give the home side a commanding 3-0 lead.

Rovers pulled a goal back on 67 minutes thanks to Jason Lowe's first goal of the season, the midfielder letting fly from just inside the area with the ball squeezing into the bottom left hand corner.

But any thoughts of a comeback were quickly quashed when Marcus Marshall received his second yellow card of the game for what can be best described as 'striker's challenges'.

With a man down Rovers restricted their hosts to few further chances, but were unable to create any of note themselves.

They are back in action next Saturday when Stoke City are the visitors to Brockhall, kick-off 11.00am.
