ROVERS' Academy made it back-to-back pre-season victories with a win over Welsh Alliance League side Conwy United on Tuesday night.

Goals from Jake Simpson, Josh Morris and Gearoid Morrissey saw Gary Bowyer's side win the match comfortably.

But after only seven minutes of the game the home side were dealt a blow when their goalkeeper Dent was unable to continue with a suspected broken thumb. With no substitute goalkeeper available, Rovers allowed Josh Swann to play for the opposition.

He was called into action on 30 minutes when a penalty was awarded to Rovers after shirt pulling in the area. John Kennedy struck the inside of the post with his spot kick, Swann parried the ball away but Jack Brierley pulled the ball back for Jake Simpson (pictured) to side foot beyond the 'keeper.

But two minutes later the scores were level when Roberts headed home from a corner.

A second penalty kick was awarded to Rovers just past the hour mark when Josh Morris was tripped as he ran into the area. The winger dusted himself down and took the kick, blasting the ball hard down the middle with Swann diving to the left.

With fifteen minutes left a third was added by Rovers, Irishman Gearoid Morrissey blasting the ball home from twenty yards.

Rovers are next in action on Friday afternoon when they face Hull City at Brockhall, kick-off 1.00pm.
