ROVERS Academy got back to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over Oldham Athletic at Brockhall.

John Kennedy (pictured) gave the home side the lead after just six minutes when a move involving Josh Morris and Jason Lowe saw the ball threaded through to the advancing Kennedy who slide the ball into the net.

In a strong display from the young Rovers side, the only surprise was it took until the 65th minute to double their lead.

A corner from the right went into the crowded area and Andy Parry was on hand to toe-poke the ball over the line at the back post.

Oldham rallied and pulled a goal back on 73 minutes but it proved to be mere consolation.
