Eric Black is under no illusions of the importance of getting back to winning ways this evening.
Rovers might be unbeaten on the road this season but after home losses to Middlesbrough and Wolverhampton Wanderers, Black knows that victory over Sheffield Wednesday tonight at Ewood Park is a must.
"We haven't won yet, we were relatively close on Saturday but it wasn't to be, so we need to focus and our impetus has to be to try and win the game without doubt in front of our home support," said Black.
"I know it won't be easy, I went to their game on Friday night and I saw a very physical, direct, energetic with a fair splash of ability, a Sheffield Wednesday team who probably should have won the game.
"But we know that in front of our home crowd we need to win the game, we want to win the game.
"We feel that we are starting to move in the right direction, we've got a system that we think suits the players that we have available.
"I thought for an hour at Derby we played well I must admit. For an away performance it was decent,
"I'm not saying we lifted the rafters but for the first hour we were very much in control of the game and looked like we could score a goal, looked very secure and I liked the balance about it.
"Now that balance has to shift because we are at home, in front of our home support and we have to take the impetus to win the game.
"So there may be one or two tweaks within that but with the players that we have available I have to try and get the best system and I feel we are getting close to it."
Without a win in five Rovers have slipped out of the play-off places, but with such a tight Championship victory can see them jump right back up.
"Looking at the table I would rather be in second or first but we aren't far off," added Black. "We've had three away games in four, we've now got two home games coming up and we'll try and go and win these games.
"Hopefully if we do that then the table will look a little bit rosier."
