With an important week of football coming up, Gary Bowyer has stressed that Rovers must improve their points haul.

Rovers kick-off this Saturday with a home match against Derby County, followed by a trip to Barnsley on Tuesday before Blackpool are the visitors to Ewood Park the following weekend. All games the manager feels his side have to get points from.

"All of a sudden we've got three games in a week again in the League," said Bowyer.

"We've got Derby, Barnsley and then Blackpool, two out of the three of them are at home so it is important that, as quickly as we can, we get back to picking up points.

"That is what it is about now. It has always been about that but with the run-in it is about picking up points wherever you can."

Saturday's opponents Derby County have set the perfect example of what can happen when you put a string of results together. Under the stewardship of Steve McLaren, the Rams won seven straight matches to bring themselves right into the promotion pack.

"We would love to do the same," added the manager. "I think they won seven on the bounce, we've been threatening that but we haven't quite managed to get over two or three on the trot, so that is something that we've got to do.

"We spoke about that to the players this week, we've got to put that together now.

"We've just got to keep focusing game by game now, we've got 20 games left in the season, we've to kick on and see where we end up at the end of the season."

Tickets for Saturday's match are on open sale and will be available up to the 3.00pm kick-off.
