The striker, who was sidelined with a cruciate knee injury since the summer, will make his long-awaited return to competitive action in the Under-21s match against Sunderland at Leigh Sports Village tonight.
A £3m summer signing from Newcastle United, Best sustained the injury during a pre-season friendly match against AEK Athens, but after seven months of rehabilitation manager Michael Appleton confirmed his return this Monday morning.
Along with Leon Best, Rovers also welcome back Dickson Etuhu and Adam Henley after injury, whilst Fabio Nunes and Josh Morris will get a run-out as well.
"We've got a reserve team game tonight which is going to be good because Leon Best will get his first game," said the manager.
"Dickson Etuhu will get a run-out tonight, Adam Henley, Fabio Nunes and Josh Morris, so there is going to be a few faces that have been in and around the first team that are going to be playing this evening.
"So I'm looking forward to seeing how they do before I travel up to Hull.
