Rudy Gestede was back on international duty over the weekend as Benin defeated Malawi in an African Cup of Nations 2nd round qualification match.

The striker, who missed Rovers' training camp in Portugal to join up with his country, played 76 minutes in Cotonou as Benin won 1-0 on Sunday. The only goal of the game coming on 18 minutes through West Bromwich Albion striker Stephane Sessegnon.

This means Benin take a slender one-goal lead into the second leg that takes place in Malawi on August 2.

If Gestede's country progress then they'll move onto the group stages of the qualification process, joining Mali, Algeria and Ethiopia in Group B.
