His six goals in six starts saw the likeable frontman ensure Rovers remained unbeaten in April, with Gestede's achievements acknowledged.
On winning the award the 25-year-old said: "It means a lot, it is my first trophy since I came to England so I am very happy to get this.
"It has been a very good month for me and the team, I have scored my first hat-trick and we have won games and stayed unbeaten.
"I am very happy, we have finished very well this season as a team."
Gary Bowyer felt that the decision to name Gestede Player of the Month was richly deserved.
"Without a doubt he has been absolutely outstanding," said the Rovers boss. "His goals have backed up his play and his value to the team massively.
"He's a top lad, nothing is a problem for him and he has really been a fantastic signing for us."
Rovers have a second player earning monthly honours as Josh Morris was named as Sky Bet

The on-loan Fleetwood Town midfielder scored two key goals to earn the Cody Army vital points to ensure a play-off place for Graham Alexander's side.
The Sky Bet
