The 25-year-old striker joins from newly-promoted Premier League outfit Cardiff City on loan until January and he's eager to put his Championship experience to good use.
“I’m very happy to join Blackburn,” said Gestede. “It’s a massive club, with great history.
“When I was younger, I used to pick Blackburn when I played video games. Of course we played against them last season, so I know it’s a good club, with a good atmosphere. The fans are amazing, like they are at Cardiff, and maybe that’s why I chose this club.
“We got promoted with Cardiff last season and I think the manager wants me to bring this experience and have a good spirit in the team. I’m here to work hard and do my best. He is giving me the chance to play and to be on the pitch every week, so I hope I can take it.
"You need to have a good atmosphere in the team, with everybody focused in the same way. You have to work hard, because the Championship is a hard league. There are a lot of games and it’s not easy to win, even against the bottom teams in the league, so you need to be really focused on each game and work hard permanently."
The Benin international is also looking forward to forging a formidable partnership with Rovers' star striker Jordan Rhodes, having heard plenty about the Scotsman.
"I know him, because he scores a lot of goals!" added Gestede. "Obviously any striker who scores goals, everybody knows him! I’m not here to take his place, or anything like that, I think we can play together. We’ve got a lot of strikers here, so we will see what happens, but I’ve heard that he’s a good striker, who scores a lot of goals."
Subject to international clearance, Gestede could make his debut for Rovers at Ewood Park this weekend against Leeds United.
"Yes, I’m fit to play. That is why I have come to Blackburn. I hope I’m going to play and help the team to do well."
