Rovers have been drawn at home to Scunthorpe United in the first round of the Capital One Cup.

Gary Bowyer’s side, who were seeded in the draw, will host the League One new boys during the week commencing Monday August 11th.

The two teams have only ever met twice in their history, during the 1972-73 Third Division season, when Rovers won 3-0 at Ewood Park, before drawing 1-1 at the Old Show Ground.

Rovers were knocked out at the first round stage last season, losing 4-3 on penalties to Carlisle United after the match at Brunton Park ended 3-3 after extra-time.

Scunthorpe, who secured automatic promotion last season after finishing second in League Two, also lost on penalties in the first round, going down 5-4 away to Barnsley after the game ended goalless.

Fixtures for the 2014-15 Sky Bet Championship campaign will be announced at 9am tomorrow morning.
