Twenty football fans took part in a gruelling 26-mile marathon across Lancashire in aid of two worthy causes.

Fans from Blackburn, Manchester, Bury and Glasgow hiked from Rivington Pike to Peel Tower, via Darwen Tower, to raise money for Children with Cancer UK and Macmillan Cancer Support.

After 11 hours of walking and a considerable downpour of rain, 13 of the team successfully fought off the effects of fatigue and injury, making it to Peel Tower in jubilant mood.

The event was organised by Greig Burrows, whose daughter Emily is currently fighting Leukaemia, and Gareth Castick (pictured left).

So far, the lads have raised over £3,500. To sponsor them, please visit www.virginmoneygiving.com/3towers
