Paul Robinson believes the way Rovers performed in the FA Cup draw with Manchester City shows how much the squad have improved.

The popular stopper made a welcome return to the starting eleven on Saturday, his first outing in a Rovers shirt in 13 months after a blood clot on his lung following a back operation.

Robinson wasn't kept too busy in the 1-1 draw at Ewood Park, with the former England man feeling that it is indicative of the progress the team is making under Gary Bowyer.

"It shows how far we've come in the 12 months that I've been out," Robinson told Radio Rovers.

"It is a different Blackburn team that I am standing behind, the manager has changed things around and has got some new players and there's an aura about the place, a resilience.

"When I was playing in the team maybe 12-18 months ago, if we had gone one down at home to a team like Manchester City it would have ended up three or four. There is a good mentality about the team and the manager deserves a lot of credit for that.

"I've felt that at the training ground, you can see it, there's a completely different atmosphere at the training ground and I've seen a few games as well, but not until you are actually out there can you see a difference.

"There's a resilience and there are a lot of players out there who want to play for this club."
