Following incidents at our recent fixtures against Bolton Wanderers and Burnley involving the use of pyrotechnic devices, Blackburn Rovers would like to remind all spectators that it takes a very serious view of such behaviour.
After working closely with the police, one supporter has been identified and banned from purchasing tickets and attending Rovers matches as a result of his actions at the Reebok Stadium.
The club wishes to highlight the dangers surrounding the discharge of pyrotechnic devices in that the emission of flames and smoke can cause alarm and distress to other spectators, together with the very real danger of serious burns being sustained by any person coming into contact with them.
Any supporters engaging in disorder or found to be in possession of pyrotechnic devices will be liable for a substantial ban by the club, irrespective of any other actions initiated by the police or courts.
These incidents also have a detrimental effect on the image of Blackburn Rovers and Managing Director Derek Shaw said: “A couple of incidents recently, it has to be said, have caused damage to the club and its supporters’ good name. Rovers supporters are respected both at home and when they travel and it is really important that this continues. We have taken action promptly to protect that reputation.”
