With the loan window opening on Saturday, Rovers wasted little time in securing the services of the experienced front man, with Varney thrust straight into the action as a second half substitute in the goalless draw with Middlesbrough.
Speaking after the match at the Riverside, Varney said: "I'm delighted to be here, I've had a lot of conversations with the club and the manager and I am happy to get it over the line after a week of turmoil at Leeds.
"I was just delighted to finally get the shirt on today. I'm really pleased to be here, I can put it all behind me now and I'm hoping to do it on the pitch for Blackburn.
"I know a lot of the staff and that can only help. I felt wanted from the second that I walked into the building and that is really important.
"Hopefully I can pay them back with some good performances."
