Rovers’ first team stars – including a host of new faces – were put through their paces in a gruelling first day back in training after the summer break.

Following a day of fitness tests yesterday, new signings Chris Taylor, Alan Judge and Simon Eastwood braved the elements and joined up with their new team-mates for the first time on the Brockhall training pitches.

Former Ewood favourite and newly-appointed first team coach Craig Short was also on duty at the Senior Training Centre, to oversee the session in the company of manager Gary Bowyer, assistant manager Terry McPhillips, fellow first team coach Tony Grant and head of sports science Chris Neville.

Bowyer will welcome back the rest of his senior squad – including the likes of star striker Jordan Rhodes, Grant Hanley, Jason Lowe and Josh King – early next week, after players who were involved on international duty were given a few extra days off.
