Morten Gamst Pedersen was surprised but delighted when fellow Norwegian Henning Berg was appointed as the new Rovers boss.

The two were regular team-mates for Norway and now Pedersen is looking forward to playing under his stewardship.

"There have been loads of the names in the hat and I'm very pleased that we've got a manager now," Pedersen told Rovers Player.

"His career as a player was fantastic, what he did for Blackburn and Manchester United and everything so hopefully he can bring loads of experience from those memories into the club here and give us a lift."

Pedersen is hopeful that Berg can continue the fine work done by caretaker boss Eric Black. Rovers go into this afternoon's match against Crystal Palace off the back of two home wins in a row and the midfielder feels that Berg's arrival can only add to that momentum.

"We have been doing well," added Pedersen. "We've had a good week, and I think it is a good time to come.

"It is an interesting appointment, there were loads of names mentioned, so to get a manager who isn't from the UK will be good as well.

"So I'm looking forward to working with him, I've never worked with him before, only played.

"If we can all go in the same direction and get to where we are needed and that is the Premier League. It is much more fun to play in the Premier League than the Championship and everybody who has been there know that.

"We just have to work hard now and hopefully we can go in the same direction."

Tickets are on sale from Selhurst Park on the day of the game, prices are £26 for Adults, £15 for Juniors, Seniors and Students.
