The Rovers duo both started in Tallin as England kicked off their UEFA Under-19 qualifiers with a comfortable 3-0 win over hosts Estonia.
O'Connell played the full match whilst Hanley featured for the first half as goals from Jordi Hiwula, Blair Turgott and Chuba Akpom gave the young Lions a comfortable victory.
England are back in action on Friday when they face the Faroe Islands before ending their group matches against the Ukraine on Monday.
