The side are unbeaten in their last five outings and the manager believes that the desire and determination shown by the central pair is one of the main reasons for this.
"Against Reading the pair of them were magnificent," said Bowyer. "We knew that for us to stand a chance of winning the game that we had to stop their two central midfielders and we had to stop their two centre forwards.
"The two centre halves did magnificently well with their's but Lowey and Willo were unbelievable.
"The amount of yardage they covered was incredible, they never stopped running the pair of them. We are delighted for them."
The Rovers boss also believes that that desire is rubbing off on the other players also.
"Our work ethic is something that we have prided ourselves on all season," added Bowyer.
"It is the message that we have said from day one.
"If you see the messages around the training ground it is about the hard work and the effort.
"Luke Varney came on and epitomised what we've already got and Craig Conway as well. He put a right shift in there.
"That is the minimum that is set now, the lads have set that themselves. It has been important to us as staff, but they demand that from each other now."
