But there’s no need for a wasted Saturday – get involved in Non-League Day 2012!
Hundreds of non-league clubs across the country – including plenty here in Lancashire – are kicking off at the usual time of 3pm on Saturday October 13th and many of them are getting involved with the event by offering cut-price tickets, holding community days, ground-hops and other innovative ways of sharing in the spirit of Non-League Day.
Many local clubs are run solely by volunteers and rely heavily on support from the community for their survival. Just down the road from Ewood Park, Ramsbottom United are hosting Prescot Cables, Radcliffe Borough will welcome Cammell Laird, Barnoldswick Town face Maine Road and Curzon Ashton play host to Bamber Bridge – just to name a few!
Non-League Day founder James Doe says: “It’s great to see so many people getting behind the clubs in their community. So many people put so much time and effort into keeping these clubs and their facilities alive. I’d encourage all Rovers fans to take advantage of the free weekend to see some more action that’s taking place on your doorstep.”
