As part of Rovers' support for the Football League's official charity partner, Prostate Cancer UK, the club have designated today's game to help raise the profile of the disease.
Supporters are being urged to sign for 'Men United' in the fight against prostate cancer (by visiting www.prostatecanceruk.org/football) and to dig deep for a matchday bucket collection in aid of the charity.
If you don’t see them and want to support Prostate Cancer UK, text FOOTBALL to 70004 to donate £5 to Prostate Cancer UK.*
Fans can also join the fight by signing up for Prostate Cancer UK’s Men United newsletter to get fortnightly features from the web’s finest football writers straight to your inbox. Plus, you could win a pair of tickets to the Capital One Cup final.
In addition, life-long Rovers fan, Matthew McDonough, 22, has won the chance to represent Men United by leading out the team, who will warm up in specially-branded Prostate Cancer UK vests ahead of the game.
Matthew, from Baxenden, said: "I'm really proud that Blackburn Rovers are standing up for men everywhere by joining the fight against this terrible disease and I hope that the fans will take notice and find out more about prostate cancer."
Mark Bishop, director of fundraising at Prostate Cancer UK, added: "We urgently need to raise awareness of the disease which kills one man every hour and get this message across to Rovers' fans."
