Gary Bowyer believes Rovers' pre-season programme will provide the perfect preparation for the season ahead.

The club have confirmed five pre-season fixtures with away trips to face AFC Telford United, Accrington Stanley, Bury and Bradford City followed by an Ewood curtain-raiser against Premier league Stoke City.

"Building up to the season we've got some fantastic games," said the Rovers boss.

"We go to Telford who have just got promoted to the conference. They get fantastic attendances and it is a nice venue so we are really looking forward to that.

"Then we've got the camp in Portugal which proved a success last year. We are really looking forward to going to that.

"After that we've got some tough games. We go to Accrington as part of the Connor Mahoney deal. Bury, under Dave Flitcroft, have done ever so well this season, so that is going to provide us with another stern test.

"Bradford City have done well again in League One and they always get a decent crowd."

After the away matches, Rovers end their pre-season programme with a home friendly at Ewood Park against Stoke City on Sunday August 3rd.

'We finish off with a fantastic game against Stoke City and we are delighted that they will come and play here at Ewood," added Bowyer.

"Obviously it is the return of Mark Hughes who was fantastic here as manager. I was the Under-18s coach at the time and learnt a hell of a lot from him and his staff.

"He's gone and done it again at Stoke this season so that will be a great game for us and a great test just before we start the new season.

"So the challenges and preparation that has gone into it will only help us. The detail of preparation and the planning that the staff have put in has been fantastic and we hope to reap the rewards come the start of the season."

The 2014-15 Sky Bet Championship season starts on Saturday August 9th. Fixtures for the new campaign will be announced on Wednesday 18th June at 9.00am.
