In their fourth match in as many days it was another close encounter in which the home side just edged.
Rovers' task wasn't helped by a host of injuries sustained in the tournament. Already without Scott Wharton, Stuart Callaway and Mark Edgar, it was made all the more tougher when Lewis Mansell went off after falling heavily. Mason Faws, the Under-17s only outfield substitute, on to replace.
The only goal of the game came on 45 minutes with Rovers being at fault. A mix-up between defender Ryan Nyambe and goalkeeper Callum Williams allowed a Spartak forward to nip in to steal the ball and roll it into the empty net.
Rovers had chances to get back on level terms, Hyuga Tanner somehow firing over the bar from inside the six-yard box, whilst a speculative effort from Lewis Hardcastle landed on the roof of the net.
The result sees Rovers remain in 2nd place, three points behind leaders Spartak with just one game to play.
Thankfully for Gary Finley's team, there's a much-needed rest day on Saturday with Rovers back in action in the final match against bottom side Rapid Vienna on Sunday.
ROVERS: Williams, Tomlinson, Nyambe, Platt, Askew, Hardcastle, Edo, Doyle, Tanner, Mansell (sub Faws 35 mins), Howarth.
