Rovers' Under-17s left it late to maintain their unbeaten record in the Spartak Cup as they drew 1-1 with Krasnodar.

It was another war of attrition for the young Rovers as they battled back to earn a share of the spoils in Moscow

It was Russian side Krasnodar who took the lead on 26 minutes. Adrian Edo's rash challenge in the area resulting in a penalty kick that was duly converted.

Chances came and went for Rovers as it looked like they would taste defeat for the first time in the competition, but captain Jack Doyle struck nine minutes from time with a crisp left-foot strike to secure their fifth point in the tournament.

Rovers are now second in the table, level on points with hosts Spartak Moscow. The lads have little time to recover as they face Spartak on Friday afternoon.

ROVERS: Fisher, Nyambe, Platt, Edgar (sub Faws 57 mins), Askew, Tomlinson, Doyle, Tanner, Edo (sub Hardcastle 38 mins), Mansell, Howarth.
