Goals in each half from Keeleigh Savage and Lagan Makin maintained Rovers’ 100% start to the new Northern Division season.
It was the visitors who started the brighter of the two teams, as Rovers struggled to settle in the baking heat.
Leicester had the first opportunity of the game – a long range effort that went straight into Krystal Parker’s hands.
Rovers gradually started to get a foothold in the game, with a tame effort from Katie Anderton their first chance of note.
Leicester then had two corners in quick succession, but Rovers dealt with them well.
The turning point in the half arrived just before the half-hour mark, as some good link-up play between Savage and Makin fed Anderton in the box. Her shot was saved by the hand of a Leicester player and Rovers were duly awarded a penalty. Savage stepped up and smashed the resulting spot-kick into the top corner.
Rovers had a chance to double their lead just before half-time when Anderton played in Makin, but her shot rattled the crossbar.
Scott Rogers’ side started the second half with more purpose to their play and within minutes of the restart, Anderton saw a shot rebound off the bar, before Savage and Makin had shots well saved.
Rovers thought they had doubled their lead through Hannah Forster, but were denied by a dubious and late linesman’s flag.
The second half was pretty much one-way traffic, with Leicester trying to hit the home side on the break. Rovers eventually wore their opponents down and Makin made it 2-0 at the second attempt after being played clean through.
As the game entered the closing stages, Leicester pressed and committed bodies forward, and had two opportunities that went to waste.
Substitute Beth Donoghue then went through one-on-one two minutes from time, but slid the ball just the wrong side of the post.
Scott said: “Obviously we are delighted to put another three points on the board. We felt we were a little slow getting going, but we managed to find ourselves 1-0 up at half-time.
“I thought in the second half we stepped it up a gear and it was only a matter of time before we killed the game off.
“I'm really pleased for the girls, but we are well aware that this is just the start of the season and we have to stay focused on what we want to achieve this year.”
